Cultural beginnings: video of small Balinese children rehearsing traditional dance on the street.
I get to see magical things just walking around. Here is amazing (to me) video of small Balinese girls – they appear to be aged around 4 and 6 – making their first attempts to perform a complicated sychronized Balinese dance routine that, when they grow older, they may perform as part of the ceremonies that are a regular part of life on this magical island.
One thing I love about Southeast Asia is how fearless, intrepid and self-motivated kids are here. I acknowledge that comes at the expense of considerable personal safety, but it’s inspiring to me.
This wasn’t part of any kind of a show. They were just doing this on the street when I walked by. That’s what Bali’s like.
